"Alright, let's eat!" Yueyang clapped his hands and sat down.

She had been busy today as well. She first drove her grandmother to the supermarket to buy gifts for visiting friends, then arrived early at Zhao Yanzǐ's house to help with cooking. Considering that she was usually preoccupied with research, it wasn't easy for her to do these things.

Ultimately, she felt grateful towards Zhao Yanzǐ's family who had taken care of her grandmother during the toughest period.

Six people sat around the dining table.

The rain was still pouring outside, but it couldn't dampen the warm atmosphere inside the house.

"You guys are really something else. Next time you come to visit, don't bring so many expensive gifts." Zhao Hongyu said as she helped her mother serve dishes.

"How could we be so rude We came empty-handed for your meal," Yueyang replied.

"We're all family members, there's no need to worry about these things," Zhao Hongyu smiled and said.

Yueyang also smiled and added, "I heard from A Ren that this time around, A Zǐ did pretty well on her exams"

"This is all A Ren's doing. If it weren't for him tutoring A Zǐ, she wouldn’t have improved so quickly," Zhao Hongyu said.

With her grandmother and Yueyang present, Zhao Yanzǐ couldn't deny anymore and could only hang her head in acceptance.

"No, actually A Zǐ is also very intelligent; she grasps things easily," Hao Ren interjected.

Zhao Yanzǐ stomped on his foot under the table. Hmph, he’s saying nice things about me now. It's so insincere.

"Has Ah Ren's dad gone on another business trip" Zhao Hongyu asked Yue Yang.

"Yes, he has gone to the US for an academic conference. It might take about a week or two before he returns," Yue Yang replied.

"You should come over to our place more often in the future. Bring your whole family and there's no need to bring any gifts, it’s okay," Zhao Hongyu said politely.

“Haha, we live by the seaside which is a bit far from the city center, but you can drive easily. We welcome your family to visit us anytime too,” Yue Yang responded.

"Great!" Zhao Hongyu smiled happily.

The two women were both well-educated and courteous; it just seemed that Zhao Hongyu was gentler while Yue Yang appeared a bit more assertive.

“You are also welcome to stay at our house whenever you want, the room is reserved for you and will be kept clean regularly,” Zhao Hongyu said to Grandma.

"Haha, how could I possibly accept that," Grandma laughed heartily. "I don't wish to trouble you any further, but Ah Ren might have an opportunity to stay overnight at your place."

“Ah Ren has already stayed over several times!” Zhao Hongyu said gently.

Hearing this from Zhao Hongyu, Yue Yang turned and looked at Hao Ren with a questioning look in his eyes.

"Haha, anyway both our families are like one big family. Little Zi can come to our place anytime too!" Grandma was delighted, thinking of Ah Zi as her future daughter-in-law already.

“In the future, Ah Zi’s studies will still need your help in guiding her,” Zhao Hongyu said.

"Of course! " Grandma readily agreed without any qualms about considering Uyan Zi both as her future daughter-in-law and someone for Hao Ren to tutor.

They continued exchanging pleasantries, while Hao Ren and U Yanzi remained mostly silent throughout the conversation.

After dinner, they still had more topics to discuss and chat about since it was pouring outside and there was no way for them to leave anytime soon. Hao Ren and Zhao Yanzi didn’t want to join in their conversation; they went upstairs with an excuse to rest in Zhao Yanzi’s room.

Back in the room, Zhao Yanzi turned on her computer, kicked off her slippers, sat cross-legged on a chair, opened QQ, Kaixin.com, and the game interface, just not wanting to do homework.

Hao Ren didn’t bother to discipline her. He walked by the window and saw that it was still raining outside; he thought to himself that rain must be quite an arduous task.

Thinking of Elder Xu’s scene of wielding power over heaven and earth, Hao Ren felt his heart stir with excitement. The feeling of sweeping across all directions wasn’t just a visual impact but also a mental one.

A realization seemed to rise in his mind repeatedly. Hao Ren chose a corner to sit down, activated the Essence Concentration Technique, and entered a state of oblivion.

Zhao Yanzi turned her head to look at Hao Ren and gave an exasperated snort. He was being fake proper.

She opened up the game interface and focused on playing games. With such good grades this time around, she decided to treat herself well and not study so hard anymore.

A thin mist seeped into the room through the window

The sound of rain outside gradually faded, indicating that the downpour was rapidly weakening.

Hao Ren opened his eyes and sensed that he was about to break through to the second level of the Essence Concentration Technique but couldn’t quite put into words what he felt.

Forget it. He’ll ask修煉高手Su Han tomorrow then. Hao Ren stretched out his limbs, stood up, and looked at Zhao Yanzi by the computer again. She was lying on the table with her hand holding the mouse and had fallen asleep once more.

Damn brat, she didn’t do homework but got all fired up playing games. Hao Ren didn’t want to disturb her; he covered her with a small blanket and went down the stairs.

Yue Yang saw the rain outside had eased up and was about to leave when she spotted Hao Ren coming down the stairs. She waved at him, then turned to her mother-in-law and said, "Mom, I told you this rain would last no more than two hours, so there's nothing for you to worry about."

"Alright, alright, you're an expert," replied the grandmother as she got up after patting her body. "Hongyu, it’s time for me to go home now. I’ll come by another day and chat with you again."

"Auntie, please take care on your way back. If you ever want to stay here, feel free to drop in any time," said Zhao Hongyu as she escorted the grandmother to the door. Zhao Guang was not much of a talker but treated their guests with due courtesy and accompanied Zhao Hongyu to see Hao Ren’s family off at the doorway.

Yue Yang started up her white Ford, taking Hao Ren and his grandmother back home by the seaside. The road was wet and slippery, so she drove very carefully. In front of his grandmother, Hao Ren did not dare to take over from his mother behind the wheel even though they were going at a slow speed.

"Ren, Grandma will say this again: the Ah Zi family has done us a favor. No matter what happens, you mustn’t let her down and should look after her well in the future," said the grandmother suddenly while in the car.

"Mom, these are children’s matters that they have to handle themselves. I feel that Ah Zi is too young, and Ren might actually like a girl of his own age," Yue Yang interjected first.

"It doesn’t matter who he likes! I want Ah Zi to be my granddaughter-in-law!" the grandmother raised her voice sharply. "I don’t need anyone else!"

Yue Yang wanted to speak up for Hao Ren, but after getting a rebuke from his grandmother, she couldn’t say anything more. In her lab, she was always decisive and firm with her opinion, but at home, it wasn’t something she would do.

Deep in her heart, she actually preferred the girl nicknamed “Class Monitor” who was about Hao Ren’s age and had a gentle appearance – that made for an ideal daughter-in-law.

Hearing his grandmother’s words, Hao Ren felt helpless. "Grandma, you can rest assured that I’ll treat Ah Zi well."

"That’s my good grandson!" said the grandmother as she rubbed Hao Ren's palms and whispered, "Grandma wants to hold her great-grandchildren…"

Eh… Hao Ren froze in his seat.
