Mountain Babble: Four; Heart Throbs: One
In no time, Su Han arrived at the classroom wearing a printed mini skirt as the bell rang for class. Today, it was not her clothes or skirt that caught everyone's attention but rather her wedge sandals with flower designs and vibrant colors, which highlighted her tall figure and casual style, earning admiration from both male and female students.
Su Han rarely made appearances in school, yet Hao Ren knew there were a group of girls who studied her fashion choices, finding trends to follow. Among them, the "campus beauty" Lin Li was the most successful imitator.
For boys, however, what was more attractive than clothes was Su Han herself.
Every glance and step she took could leave one pondering for a long time.
The two-hour class seemed to end in an instant as Su Han left the classroom with a graceful back view.
Zhou Liren rubbed his hands together and approached Hao Ren, "Brother Ren! Brother Ren! Since you're so close to Su Han, why not take her out for a meal I really can't hold myself back today; she looks even more beautiful up close!"
Hearing Zhou Liren mention food reminded Hao Ren of something.
"Do you know any good restaurants nearby" asked Hao Ren.
"Sure! There's a newly opened restaurant called Piao Xiang Ge on the second floor of Hong Ji, serving Hunanese cuisine. The ambiance is excellent and it has private rooms but it can be quite expensive!" replied Zhou Liren.
Hao Ren nodded thoughtfully, considering an appropriate time to invite Su Han out for a meal alone, regardless of anything else, she had always been kind to him and he hadn't properly thanked her yet.
"You're going to take Su Han out for dinner" asked Zhao Jiayin as he approached them.
Hao Ren waved his hand dismissively, "Don't listen to Zhou Liren; I was just asking casually."
Su Han seemed aloof and worldly, so it didn't seem fitting to take her out for ordinary meals. However, offering her a magical item as a gift could come off as bribery. As Hao Ren exited the classroom, he pondered over this dilemma.
"I'm heading to the gym for some training afternoons!" announced Zhao Jiayin.
Zhou Liren shouted loudly in response, "Are you going crazy with basketball practice"
Hao Ren found himself somewhat helpless as he didn't expect Zhao Jiayin to be so dedicated once he joined the basketball team.
Upon returning to their dormitory, some rested while others played cards. Hao Ren picked up his phone and after a brief moment of contemplation, he sent Su Han a message: "I successfully broke through to the third layer of the Condensed Spirit Technique and wish to celebrate this achievement. I also want to thank you for your meticulous guidance. Tonight, may I treat you to dinner at Piao Xiang Ge in Hong Ji It serves Hunanese cuisine; hope it's to your liking."
I’m quite nervous about sending this message, and Hao Ren doesn’t expect Su Han to reply. However, it’s important for him to express his attitude.
"Zizi zi..." Unexpectedly, Su Han replied a few minutes later.
Seeing Su Han's name on the phone made Hao Ren inexplicably excited. He opened the message and saw her reply: "Sure, just tell me when."
Bang! Hao Ren felt as if his brain had been struck by lightning.
Panicking, he replied back, “Then let's make it six PM tonight, not too late. I'll be waiting for you in the Fragrant Pavilion.”
"Okay." Su Han sent another message.
Hao Ren sighed with relief and threw his phone to one side before lying down comfortably.
He thought about it, then picked up his phone again and sent a message to Zhao Yanzi: "I'm having dinner with Su Han tonight. Do you want to come"
"No way! I have so much homework today!" Zhao Yanzi immediately replied in an unceremonious manner.
Hao Ren thought that she must be in class, which explained her quick reply. He then put his phone aside again.
Informing Zhao Yanzi about having dinner with a girl was almost like reporting to her indirectly. Hao Ren smiled bitterly and wondered when he had become so "strictly managed by my wife."
He also remembered that Xie Yujia from the back row looked at him oddly when they made eye contact today, which prompted him to touch his face: Could there have been such significant changes after breaking through to the third level of Concentration Technique
But thinking about it again, successfully advancing to the third level of Concentration Technique was indeed very gratifying!
Hao Ren tried using the natural energy within his body and waved gently at the curtains by the sliding door on the balcony.
The curtains swayed as if someone had deliberately pulled them.
Extremely pleased, he knew that this was a crude way to release natural energy with no combat potential. To truly master it, one needs to practice corresponding techniques.
Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet—recalling the dazzling sight of different levels of techniques in the "Mystical Skill Hall," Hao Ren wondered which level would suit him now
If he could get a green-rank technique book, that would be amazing already.
"Ren, why are you smiling like an idiot Come downstairs and play cards with us," Zhou Li called from his room.
"You guys go ahead! I’m going to bed." Hao Ren curled up toward the wall. His body felt exceptionally comfortable as all of his acupoints were open—it was like reaching the pinnacle of ancient martial arts skills.
“Ah Ren, you and Xie Yujia aren’t really talking, right I can see something off about the way you two looked at each other today,” Zhou Liren added.
Upon hearing this, Cao Ronghua also perked up with interest.
"No, you’re thinking too much. She’s just teaching me basketball," Ah Ren lazily replied.
If there was ever a shred of thought in Ah Ren's mind before, now he was completely sure about his relationship with Xie Yujia.
The closer they got, the more he understood her thoughts. Xie Yujia had good relationships with all of her classmates but hadn’t previously shown any special closeness towards a boy. Now that Ah Ren had spent time with her, he realized she was genuine and sincere in her actions, without any ulterior motives. Especially when she wiped his mouth for him this morning, it was just an action for a close friend and nothing more.
A girl who loves sports wouldn’t be so petty; maybe I’ve unknowingly become one of her close friends. She’s still pure and doesn’t have any bad intentions—just a regular friend worth getting to know.
But whether or not they could advance from being good friends, that was an incredibly difficult step. Ah Ren felt that Xie Yujia had someone in her heart already, and while their interactions were fine, he wasn’t the one who would fill that spot for her.
It definitely isn’t Huang Xujie—then who could it be Could it be a handsome guy she played basketball with back when she was in middle school
Ah Ren pondered this for a while and realized thinking about it wouldn’t get him anywhere. He then picked up his phone to text Zhao Yanzǐ, but worried it would affect her studying, he eventually decided against it.
Feeling bored, Ah Ren laid down and fell asleep until the evening.
Seeing that it was nearing 6 PM, Ah Ren put on his socks and shoes before jumping down from the top bunk. Ignoring the group of gamblers still sitting in their dorm playing cards, he headed straight for the Acer Plaza.
He entered the second floor of the plaza's Fragrant Pavilion, and immediately received a text message from Su Han: "Mount Hua."
So she already sensed my arrival. Ah Ren looked up and found the room marked as "Mount Hua," then pushed open the door.
In this ancient-style room, Su Han in her red Tang suit with a bun was waiting inside.
The entire aura of her person felt like she had walked right out of an old painting, completely different from the modern teacher-like appearance she had earlier. Ah Ren was prepared for Su Han’s beauty but still almost froze at the door.
She tilted her chin towards the opposite seat. Ah Ren walked over and sat down nervously across from her. This would be his first time eating with Su Han.
"I’ll treat you to this meal; it’s a celebration for reaching the third level," Su Han turned around to look at the waiter, "Please bring us some dishes."
The female server, likely stunned by Su Han's beauty, hesitated before exclaiming “Oh” and leaving the room.
Ah Ren didn’t dare look at Su Han’s incomparably beautiful face and instead looked around at this room. The red wooden lattice windows, the black imitation stone brick flooring, the deliberately aged furniture, the hanging lantern in one corner—all of these elements gave it a strong sense of ancient town charm.
After looking for a while, Ah Ren turned back to Su Han and said, "Let me treat you then."
Su Han did not argue about this issue but asked, "Have you been getting close with Xie Yujia lately"
Xie Yujia was an excellent student in their class and also one of the few girls in it. Su Han naturally knew her.
"I have to participate in a basketball match next week, so she's teaching me some basic moves."
"Mm," Su Han didn't probe further into this question but asked Hao Ren again, "Last time you went to the Dragon Palace, did you release that sister pair from the Cold Palace"
"Why Is there a problem with it" Hao Ren asked. He had already forgotten about this incident, so being suddenly questioned by Su Han made him feel somewhat nervous.
"The Minister of Summer in the East Sea reported to the Upper Realm but didn't get any reply, so he released them," Su Han explained.
Hao Ren nodded his head. The images of both sisters' delicate and pretty looks flashed through his mind.
Su Han continued, "It seems like you don’t realize what you’ve done."
"What did I do" Hao Ren was a bit confused by this.
Su Han asked, "You released them from the Cold Palace. However, the Dragon Palace isn't their permanent abode either and they can't return to the Upper Realm. Where do you think they could go"
Hao Ren was even more puzzled and said, "Where would they go"
Su Han sighed helplessly. "They’ll come to rely on you."
"Rely on me" Hao Ren nearly dropped his cup in shock.
Su Han glanced at him and said, "Qing already started dealing with this matter. She temporarily housed them and is getting them used to the human realm environment first. In the future, no matter what decision you make, think it over before acting."
"But we can't just keep them locked up forever either. The Minister of Summer said that they didn’t commit any major offenses," Hao Ren defended himself.
Su Han continued in a teaching tone, "Sometimes, being kindhearted can lead to bad consequences."
Hao Ren thought to himself, It turns out Su Han isn't dining with me for the sake of having a meal. She’s just changing places and interrogating me.
"Do you know what realm those two are in" Suddenly, Su Han asked Hao Ren again.
I wonder how everyone feels about these two beauties appearing on stagemall mongrel"Especially when this puppy’s fur was so clean, without even one wound! The middle-aged man almost dropped his jaw on the grass. Hao Ren secretly laughed: Just joking! Xiao Bai is a third-c...
