At the dining table, Zhao Hongyu asked Zhao Yanzǐ about her school life, and Zhao Yanzǐ answered all of them.郝仁 quietly ate his meal, listening to their conversation without interrupting.

The mother-daughter duo looked similar, with one being gentle and mature while the other was mischievous and adorable, creating an interesting contrast. Zhao Kuo seemed to be holding back a breath as he ate noisily.

Zhao Guang, Zhao Yanzǐ's father, appeared to be a wise leader-type man. This Zhao Kuo should be his younger brother, but their personalities were quite different—Zhao Kuo was rash and straightforward, unlike Zhao Guang who had a handsome appearance; Zhao Kuo was dark-skinned with an intimidating look.郝仁 thought to himself.

Feeling郝仁's gaze on him, Zhao Kuo lifted his head and glared at郝仁unexpectedly, scaring郝仁with his black face and beard.

The dinner ended, bringing the mother-daughter exchange to a close. Zhao Hongyu stood up to clear the dishes: "Azi, you should go upstairs with Ah Ren for your study session."

Zhao Yanzǐ pouted her small lips: "I just finished eating and want to watch TV for a bit..."

"No can do. It's too late for Ah Ren to return home." Zhao Hongyu firmly rejected Zhao Yanzǐ's request, giving her no room for negotiation.

Zhao Yanzǐ helplessly pouted again and bit her lips, looking at郝仁with a touch of anger as if she wanted to vent her frustration on him.

"Stop dilly-dallying and go up quickly to study!" Zhao Hongyu urged them.

"Alright! Alright!" With that, Zhao Yanzǐ stomped upstairs, the wooden stairs creaking under her feet.

"What are you going up for" 趙紅玉叫住他。

"Hehe... Just taking a look..."

Zhao Yanzǐ pouted her lips and sat at the desk with an unhappy expression.

Hao Ren opened the bag and took out a test paper, placing it in front of her. "Finish this test paper first."

"I still have a lot of homework today!" Zhao Ranzi looked unfriendly at Hao Ren.

"Or shall I call your mom up here" Hao Ren didn’t want to argue with her and directly pulled out his trump card.

“Humph!” Zhao Ranzi immediately gave in, quickly snatched the test paper over, took out a pen, frowned, and started working on it.

Hao Ren had picked these questions from several exercise books. They were all simple and fundamental problems to see where her level was at right now.

Zhao Ranzi held her pen between her teeth as she worked through each question one by one. Hao Ren pulled out a chair and sat beside her, quietly watching her.

Uncle Zhao Kuo sneaked over to take a look but the dense English text made his head hurt so he sulkily returned to his original spot, staring at Hao Ren instead.

About half an hour later, Zhao Ranzi finally completed this simple test paper. When Hao Ren took it back and graded it in two minutes, he was surprised to discover… This Zhao Ranzi’s English level... really couldn't be worse...

Seeing the increasing number of big red crosses on her test paper, Zhao Ranzi could no longer hold back. "Hey! Did I make that many mistakes"

"A hundred-point test paper with only twenty points!" Hao Ren held up the test paper and waved it in front of her.

"You did this on purpose!" Zhao Ranzi's face turned pale as she shouted.

“Alright,” Hao Ren put the test paper back on the table. "Let’s start with your formal lessons."

Zhao Ranzi made a dismissive sound, her face full of resentment.

"You got this second question wrong. 'Finish' is a verb and should be modified by an adverb like 'quickly'. Since it's about being faster than others, the correct form is ‘more-quickly’, not 'more-quick'," Hao Ren pointed to her incorrect answer for the second question.

Zhao Ranzi’s face turned red. "I know! I made a careless mistake; I read it wrong!"

Hao Ren ignored her protest and continued pointing out the mistakes in subsequent questions, “In this third one, when you go to the seaside in July on July fifth, ‘in’ is used before time expressions like year, month, season, or day of the week. But if it’s a specific date, use 'on', and for a specific time such as 5 o'clock, use 'at'.”

"I know this too! I just got confused!" Zhao Ranzi argued.

“There's also question four…”

“Question six…”

“Questions seven and eight…”

Hao Ren explained each question to her one by one, but Zhao Yanzi always had her own reasons—either she had misread the questions or Hao Ren's test paper was unclear. In summary, it wasn't because her English was poor.

Toward the end, even Zhao Kuo, who had been watching from the side, couldn't bear to see this anymore and cleared his throat, "Hey… Ah Zi, you should pay more attention in class."

"Uncle Three! It's because his test paper is too tricky!" Zhao Yanzi said with a red face.

Hao Ren was speechless. These questions were some of the simplest and most basic ones in middle school English; even first-year students could probably answer half of them.

Zhao Kuo, while somewhat short-tempered, wasn't stupid either. Looking at Zhao Yanzi's appearance, he knew she really did have a weak foundation, so his position became untenable as well. "I think you should study harder."

"Uncle Three…" Zhao Yanzi pleaded with her cheeks still red from embarrassment.

“It’s time now; your dad should be back soon. I'll go first before he starts nagging at me again,” Zhao Kuo said.

"Haha, Uncle Three is scared of being scolded by my dad," Zhao Yanzi suddenly cheerfully chimed in, feeling a sense of camaraderie.

Zhao Kuo also felt his face burn a little, "Anyway… I'll go now!"

"Alright! Let me see you off!" Zhao Yanzi sprang up from her chair. Her affectionate bond with her uncle was evident in her actions.

“Just see me down to the ground floor is enough...” As he spoke, Zhao Kuo walked out of Zhao Yanzi's room.

He didn’t even say goodbye to Hao Ren, clearly still not warming up to him from the heart.

Hao Ren was left alone in Zhao Yanzi's room. He faintly heard her soft murmurs coming down the stairs: "Actually, he’s not as bad as you think..."

Then, there were voices of conversation downstairs:

"Leaving already Zhao Guang is about to be back; do you want to meet him"

"Next time next time. This time I came mainly to see Ah Zi..."

"Are you afraid he'll scold you for not practicing hard enough... Okay, drive carefully on your way home..."

Hao Ren strained his ears to listen further but Zhao Yanzi suddenly opened the door and went back into her room.

“So annoying! Making me lose face in front of Uncle Three!” As soon as she came in, she complained to Hao Ren.

Hao Ren glanced at her, “But you did do something wrong though…”

"Can't you just pretend I did the right thing!" She irritably looked at Hao Ren.

Hao Ren smiled and didn’t argue with her. This guy wasn’t very capable, but he was quite proud.

"It seems like your Uncle Three hates me," Hao Ren switched to another topic and said.

"He’s not just against you; he looks down on ordinary people." Zhao Yanzi replied.

Hao Ren didn’t know what to say, but his impression of this uncle dropped even further.

"He thinks you’re unworthy for me. But don’t worry, he only talks tough and won’t actually do anything," Zhao Yanzi said bluntly.

"I still don’t understand much about your clan. What exactly is the ‘Mind Condensation Formula’ that Senior Elder Lu gave me" Hao Ren asked her.

"It’s just a basic martial art with no practical use, it’s purely for purifying the body." Zhao Yanzi sized up Hao Ren, "But after seeing you practice for so many days, it seems like there’s no reaction at all."

Seeing her disdainful look, Hao Ren knew that now she was going to belittle him.

"Didn’t we agree I’d teach your lessons and you’ll teach me the martial art If my practice isn’t good, it means you didn’t teach well," Hao Ren immediately said.

"Nonsense! I never taught you before!" Zhao Yanzi glared at him with her big eyes.

"Then start teaching now." Hao Ren sat down and looked at her.

Zhao Yanzi tilted her head for a moment, "Our dragon clan’s martial arts are divided into eight levels: Qian (Heaven), Kun (Earth), Xun (Wind), Dui (Swamp), Gen (Mountain), Zhen (Thunder), Li (Fire), and Kan (Water). The highest level is Qian, which is called the Heavenly Level. Once you’ve reached a certain body strength, my father or Senior Elder Lu will teach you real martial arts techniques. When you reach the Kan level, that’s when you officially enter."

Seeing her stuttering explanation, Hao Ren guessed she must have been equally bad at practicing martial arts before. In fact, Zhao Yanzi really had no interest in these techniques and practiced half-heartedly yet still thought highly of herself and wanted quick results, hence why she ended up falling into Hao Ren’s arms—her parents forcing her to marry him was also a form of punishment.

"Is there any danger practicing your martial arts" This was what Hao Ren cared about. By now, he had recovered from his earlier confusion and truly accepted the situation.

"Of course it’s dangerous! At best you might lose hands or feet; at worst, instant death!" Zhao Yanzi said seriously.

Hao Ren froze on the spot, "This…"

"So now it’s good for both of us. You’re practicing instead of me, so I don’t have to put in effort," she put on a cheerful expression and deliberately provoked Hao Ren.

She had this motive all along… However, the danger of training was likely an exaggeration by her, while being able to escape from the monotony of training should be her true comfort zone…

"Alright then, I’ll practice for you. Anyway, you’re going to marry me in the future." Hao Ren touched thumbs with himself, "By then…"om class several times in a row; the teacher already remembers you. How can we help you" Zhou Liren yelled.Hao Ren was helpless and took his basin to wash up at the communal bathroom before returning...
