was particularly quiet and solemn. A large hall stood empty except for servers indicating high prices charged here.As soon as He Yufan entered with Yan Luoxi, a lady in cheongsam greeted them warmly:...Chapter 35 The Huge Green Hat
People tend to bully the weak, and Yan Luoxi is no exception. Upon hearing that the other party was a bank president, she felt even more embarrassed and somewhat anxious. She could no longer pretend to be frail by lying down extravagantly; instead, she sat up slightly straighter and politely said, "Hello Mr. Guo, my name is Yan Luoxi."
Guo Yuehui was amused by her childlike demeanor and kindly corrected her, "Given my age, I should be considered your elder brother. Just call me Brother Guo!"
Yan Luoxi clenched her teeth and stammered like a mosquito, "Brother Guo."
"I have a meeting soon so I'll leave now. After I go downstairs, someone will bring you some food, and then you can leave after eating." Guo Yuehui was very considerate in his instructions, speaking softly with a gentle tone.
Yan Luoxi nodded eagerly as she wanted to get out of this awkward situation; hearing that Guo Yuehui was leaving, she could not wait to agree.
Guo Yuehui helplessly shook his head and pointed at the business card in Yan Luoxi's hand, saying, "If you need anything, give me a call." Then he looked at the IV drip, turned around, and left the ward.
Yan Luoxi watched Guo Yuehui leave and was just about to breathe a sigh of relief when she remembered that her medical bills must have been covered by him—she hadn't paid them back yet!
Anyway, he is a bank president; he wouldn’t mind a few small coins from me. Yan Luoxi crumpled the business card in her hand and tossed it into the nearby trash bin.
The moment Guo Yuehui left, the room fell silent. Exhausted to the extreme, Yan Luoxi closed her eyes and lay down, hoping to take a short nap, but she could not fall asleep no matter what.
Thinking about recent events, reminiscing over what happened not long ago, and contemplating future tasks to be done, Yan Luoxi, alone in her sickbed, had nothing in her eyes but disordered tears.
The takeout arrived quickly; it was a light congee with pickled vegetables, along with four egg tarts. This Gu行長 (bank manager) is indeed considerate!
Starving and almost green-eyed, Yan Luoxi knew she had no right to be spoilt or stubborn as an outsider. For her, nothing was more important than eating; she forced herself up and grabbed an egg tart, taking a bite. She chewed it forcefully, as if it were someone's flesh.
After finishing two egg tarts and drinking a bowl of hot congee, Yan Luoxi felt somewhat better. The past couple of nights, she had merely passed out from drinking too much and was thoroughly exhausted by Lì n’s overindulgence; she wasn't actually ill, so the intravenous drip and food replenishment made her feel more lively.
After leaving the hospital, Yan Luoxi took a taxi directly to Anrui International's staff accommodation.
Of course, she didn’t come back to work but merely to retrieve her belongings. Now was not the time for anything else; fleeing from Lì n was her best option. She wouldn't resign from Anrui International either and decided just to take her clothes and luggage and leave.
When the taxi stopped at the entrance of the staff accommodation building, Yan Luoxi handed money to the driver while spotting Lì n, supported by a cane and accompanied by Shào Jūnhè, exiting from the apartment building's door.
Frightened, she slid under her seat and pleaded in a shaky voice, "Driver uncle, please drive faster! Quickly!"
The driver saw the girl’s horrified face and thought she had run into an enemy. He pressed down on the accelerator, and the car shot forward.
Only after the taxi drove far away did Yan Luoxi ask the driver to stop. She looked around cautiously for anyone suspicious before stealthily getting out of the car and quickly entering the underground station entrance.
By now, it was getting late and Yan Luoxi entered a mall at random since she had nowhere else to go. She listened to sad music as she wandered aimlessly in the clean and elegant corridors.
In pain, lonely, and weak, the person she wanted most right now was Zhou Guangtao; the one person she wanted to be close to was also Zhou Guangtao. Yet, he was also the last person she dared to see and whom she felt ashamed to face.
After experiencing a day and night with Li An like that, even thinking about Zhou Guangtao made her feel unworthy of facing him, feeling herself very shameless.
In the past, when she was at the Li family’s residence, she had been sexually harassed countless times by Li An. However, back then, she was not yet Zhou Guangtao's girlfriend and hence did not need to bear the burden of moral condemnation.
The incident a few days ago where she lost her virginity after drinking, she could consider herself as being bitten by a dog; she could deceive Zhou Guangtao with a clear conscience despite feeling ashamed. She had resolved to remain faithful and devoted to Zhou Guangtao for the rest of her life, paying him back with her wholehearted love!
But what about this time How was she going to justify it
The more times she deceived and betrayed him, the dirtier she felt. She didn't think much of herself, feeling that she lacked morals.
Yan Luoxi walked forward, inevitably recalling the night just past, how she had whimpered and panted under Li An's body, how he had ravaged her body, his craziness and the pleasure it brought. These were etched deeply into her soul; even if she did not wish to remember them, they would never be forgotten.
The feelings of betrayal and humiliation completely shattered her love for Zhou Guangtao. A woman repeatedly acting in such a manner was extremely immoral! Extremely despicable!
Yan Luoxi looked down upon herself even more so than Zhou Guangtao could.
Emotionally, spiritually, morally, and ethically, she could no longer deceive Zhou Guangtao.
She couldn't bring herself to tell him everything. Perhaps Zhou Guangtao wouldn’t break up with her even if he knew the truth; perhaps he would forgive all past grievances; or perhaps he would be magnanimous because of his love for her, but she couldn’t let him compromise himself by accepting this kind of love.
Her dear brother Guangtiao was such an outstanding man—handsome, upright, and kind. He deserved the purest, best girl in the world.
The thought of breaking up with Zhou Guangtao made her heartache intensify to its peak, spreading a profound pain through her soul that left her trembling slightly.
They had shared their innocent youth together and experienced the joy of an unexpected reunion. Zhou Guangtao had given her all the love he could give as a man. They both believed they would have a happy future and live a long life hand in hand.
But then came the devil Li An to disrupt everything!
Zhou Guangtao never harmed her even slightly, so how could she continue betraying him and deceiving him, putting such an enormous green-eyed monster on his head
Yan Luoxi finally shed tears. Through a veil of moisture in her eyes, Zhou Guangtao’s face became increasingly blurry and distant.
Bereft of spirit, she wandered around the mall all night long; having just recovered from an illness, Yan Luoxi was exhausted. When she emerged from the mall as lights were turning on for the evening, the city at dusk was dazzling with lights.
Again tonight, she found herself homeless, but instead of pitying herself, she quickly looked for a place to stay. Seeing a large business hotel next to the mall, she decided to spend the night there so as to rest and think about how to break up with Zhou Guangtao.o Junhe had been following her without any trouble, proving that he was as powerful as Li An. If she wanted to terminate the pregnancy now, it wouldn’t be entirely up to her; she would first have to c...
