her high heels and changed clothes, then rushed into the kitchen like a dutiful wife making him food. Worries crept in as she cooked—would there be too much oil, making the dishes taste overly greasy...Chapter 41: Why Are You Following Me
Yan Luoxi was nearly reduced to tears again by Shao Junhe's question. She turned her head towards the window and tried to blink back her tears. In these two days, she had shed too many tears for Li Anlun; she couldn't cry anymore for him.
Once a man's heart changes, even if you go blind from crying, it won't help at all.
"I don't know where to go. Anyway, I have to leave here." Yan Luoxi took a deep breath and waved goodbye to Shao Junhe. "Mr. Shao, goodbye."
The moment Shao Junhe saw Yan Luoxi about to leave, he felt extremely anxious. He grabbed her suitcase and blurted out, "Luoxi, don't go!"
Yan Luoxi was stunned by Shao Junhe's attitude and looked at him with a cold smile. "What do you want Are you Li Anlun's lackey, sent to bully me together with him"
"No, I'm not his lackey or anything like that," Shao Junhe hurriedly said. "I just worry about you going alone. Where will you go I... I'm really worried about you."
Seeing the obvious concern on Shao Junhe's face and a hint of anxiety, Yan Luoxi's tone softened slightly. "Brother Douzi, thank you for your care and worries. I am an adult now; I have brains, education, can fight off ruffians, find work, and go anywhere alone without fear."
"But Luoxi..." Shao Junhe wanted to say, but Yan Luoxi had already waved goodbye to him and left gracefully with her suitcase.
Yan Luoxi no longer acknowledged Shao Junhe, and walked out of the room. She quickly entered the elevator and hailed a taxi at the hotel entrance, heading straight for the train station.
Sitting in the taxi, Yan Luoxi stared blankly at this city that she loved and hated equally, feeling heartache. When she came here, it was with her lover; now, as she left, she did so alone, tearing her heart apart.
It truly felt like a nightmare; in just one day, everything had changed dramatically.
The fiancé whom she loved deeply announced his engagement to someone else out of the blue. Right before he proposed to another, he still told her that they were about to start their happy life together, making her feel as sweet as if she was steeped in honey.
Actually, if one thought carefully, Lí An's changes over these days weren't completely untraceable. It's just that love is a deep pit; once a woman falls into it, she becomes blind to everything except for her passion for him.
Lí An had weaved such an extensive web of lies and said so many heartfelt words to her, done so many touching things for her—where could she run
She had rejected him countless times, but he stubbornly kept coming closer to her. Now that she thought about it, his persistence wasn't out of love for her; rather, it was a form of revenge.
Yan Luoxi watched as the taxi pulled into the train station and shut her eyes in pain, then took a deep breath before getting off. She walked confidently to the ticket counter, not caring about direction or destination, bought an immediate departure train ticket, and rushed towards the gate for boarding.
Right now, she didn't care about anything else; all she wanted was to leave this city of sorrow as soon as possible. As for where she would go afterward and how she would live—those were all things to worry about later. She had managed to survive at sixteen when she ran away from home without starving to death, so she should be able to make it now.
sitting on the train... watching it slowly depart... Yan Luoxi felt an inexplicable emptiness in her heart.
She left... saying goodbye to Li An forever... all past sweetness and warmth, dreams and aspirations turned into illusory fragments.
Gazing out of the train window at the sky... it was gloomy, with rain falling every now and then. The world was shrouded in a misty grey hue. Green vegetation and distant fields were transformed into dark shades by the drizzle. Such scenery seemed to echo Yan Luoxi's mood; city buildings obstructed her view of the sadness.
Seeing such desolation, pain clung to her throat, choking back tears. She felt cold then realized it was a slow train that stopped frequently, with mist thickening and chill creeping in.
Yan Luoxi looked at her short-sleeved T-shirt and hesitated about taking her suitcase from the luggage rack for a long-sleeve shirt when suddenly a warm man's jacket draped over her shoulders. She turned her head in surprise to see Shao Junhe sitting next to her, seemingly without notice.
"You... How did you end up here" Yan Luoxi exclaimed with wide eyes, nearly dropping them out of shock.
Shao Junhe felt a bit awkward and chuckled. "I... I couldn't bear leaving you alone... so..." seeing a trolley coming his way, he quickly changed the subject. "Luoxi, are you thirsty Would you like something to drink We left in such a hurry that we didn’t buy any drinks or fruit."
"I don’t need anything." Yan Luoxi lowered her voice, turning away irritably due to remorse. Turning too quickly caused loose hair to scratch into her eyes unexpectedly; tears fell down.
Unexpected warmth made her heart ache even more.
Shao Junhe watched Yan Luoxi's profile, feeling a bit at a loss. Her small mouth, with its sharp angles, was stubbornly pursed, and she was staring out the car window as raindrops pattered down. He wanted to reach out and wipe away her tears, but he lifted his hand awkwardly under curious gazes from fellow passengers and eventually put it back down.
At the hotel, Shao Junhe panicked when Yan Luoxi left. Without thinking, he followed her all the way to the train station. He watched as she bought a ticket without hesitation and got on the train; he followed suit without a second thought.
This was a slow train with poor facilities, and it seemed to be his first time riding such a mode of transportation in his life. Suppressing the cacophony and various unpleasant odors inside the carriage, he eventually made his way to Yan Luoxi's compartment.
From afar, Shao Junhe saw Yan Luoxi propping her head up with one hand, gazing out the window blankly. Her eyes were vacant, lost somewhere far away. He couldn't help but feel a sharp pain in his heart as he looked at those sad and sorrowful eyes.
Originally, he had only planned to watch Yan Luoxi get on the train and then leave, but now he realized that he could no longer do so. He paid for an additional ticket from the conductor secretly and quietly arranged to sit beside Yan Luoxi.
Yan Luoxi turned her head out of the window, took a long time to calm down from being shocked, excited, and slightly angry, then faced him with a cold expression. She asked in a low voice, "Why are you following me"
"I'm worried about you," Shao Junhe answered gently yet stubbornly.
"Who needs your worry" Yan Luoxi suddenly became agitated. This man was indeed good friends with Li An; they were all adept at relentless pursuit tactics. But considering the crowded train, she could only lower her voice and yell: "Stay away from me! I don't want to see you—get out of here right now!"ments ago been rigidly hard. Now it lay limp, drooping.Seeing this scene made Yan Luoxi feel a bit shy, but her heart sank into a deep abyss with a heavy thud.It was happening again at this moment!Liv...
