the entrance of the staff accommodation building, Yan Luoxi handed money to the driver while spotting Lì n, supported by a cane and accompanied by Shào Jūnhè, exiting from the apartment building's doo...Chapter 90: Where Have All the Familiar Faces Gone

The nurses who came to see off Yan Luoxi and Shao Junhe were slightly taken aback upon seeing the refreshingly new, bright, and tender-looking Yan Luoxi standing next to Shao Junhe.

One of the more outgoing nurses looked at Shao Junhe with a sense of dissatisfaction. Her professional sensitivity picked up on something unusual about him; she asked worriedly, "Mr. Shao, are you running a fever Your face is red and your forehead is sweating." As she spoke, she reached out to touch his forehead.

"I'm fine, I don't have a fever," Shao Junhe's handsome face paled at the sight; he quickly took two steps back. "I just got up early this morning and was busy packing my things. It must be the heat that made me flush and sweat."

"You were caught in the rain yesterday, you should still be careful. Why don't we get a check-up" The nurse who had collected apples for him the previous day spoke with concern.

"Mr. Shao, I have a thermometer here. Would you like to try it out"

...

The nurses finally found an opportunity to demonstrate their specialty and began bombarding Shao Junhe with questions.

Yan Luoxi thought about how Shao Junhe got caught in the rain yesterday, fearing he might fall ill. Just as she was about to suggest that Shao Junhe stay for a check-up, she noticed him looking at her from among the flowers, pleading for help with his gaze. She smiled slightly.

"Xiao Junhe, I'm hungry. Didn't you say you would come home and cook for me" Yan Luoxi pouted cutely at Xiao Junhe.

Xiao Junhe was startled by her sudden shout and felt a chill run down his spine. He gracefully maneuvered through the crowd of beautiful women, pulled out his luggage, and said, "Yeah, let's go. I'll cook for you."

"Alright then, I'm in luck." Under everyone's gaze, Yan Luoxi giggled as she linked her arm with Xiao Junhe’s and sweetly said, "Let's head home!"

Xiao Junhe was taken aback by Yan Luoxi and his body stiffened. He shuffled awkwardly and followed her out.

Once inside the car, Yan Luoxi was still exhilarated from her prank and in a good mood looked at the city after the rain outside, momentarily forgetting about Xiao Junhe possibly having caught a cold.

The car drove through the downtown area and traveled along the straight road for half an hour before they finally saw beautiful and charming European-style villas. From afar, large expanses of bright floor-to-ceiling glass windows could be seen, with white curtains fluttering in the breeze, resembling a castle from a fairy tale.

The moment Yan Luoxi spotted them she fell for them instantly and looked at them longingly.

As he drove, Xiao Junhe introduced to Yan Luoxi the fun places around. He continued to do so until they arrived at the villa they had rented.

This villa wasn't large, with a small garden in front of its entrance where tall paulownia trees and many flowers were planted. The morning sun filtered through the dense branches, casting dappled shadows on people's bodies, looking like scattered gold pieces.

Yan Luoxi is extremely glad that she agreed to Shao Junhe's proposal. Living in such a place with fresh air and serene tranquility is much better than staying in the hospital.

The elder lady whom Shao Junhe had hired arrived early to thoroughly clean the villa from top to bottom once again. A vase on the coffee table held a bunch of elegant white crinum lilies, perfectly blooming.

"Wow, this place is really beautiful. I love it here so much." Yan Luoxi joyfully looked around with delight. If she had enough money, she would truly want to live here for the rest of her life.

Shao Junhe kept his hands in his trouser pockets as he watched Yan Luoxi spread out her arms and bask in the sunlight, her smile revealing genuine happiness. Although he was extremely tired and dizzy-headed, he had never seen such a radiant smile and spirit from Yan Luoxi before.

Seeing this side of Yan Luoxi made him feel incredibly fulfilled; however, amidst his satisfaction, there was an inexplicable sense of melancholy. The mix of joy and peace could only be experienced by himself.

Lǐ n searched for Yan Luoxi at home for several days without any results, so he had no choice but to return to Inner Mongolia to oversee the company. Ming Zixi, who had been avoiding trouble for many days, did not expect Lǐ n to be back in such a short time with important business matters and was caught by him while traveling to Inner Mongolia.

Lǐ ān, having apprehended Ming Zixi, naturally would not let go easily. He kept Ming Zixi in Inner Mongolia for some time, but despite persistent coaxing without revealing any information about Yan Luoxi, he brought Ming Zixi back home with him, hoping to use his persistence and perseverance to elicit something from Ming Zixi.

After their return, the two gathered a group of childhood friends at a bar for drinks. Shao Meizhuo, who had nearly been choked by Lǐ ān that day, also showed up but sat far away from him and deliberately avoided looking at him while chatting and laughing with some fashionable, stylish young noblemen, causing Ruan Weijie's face to turn green with envy.

Lǐ n casually lounged on the sofa, drinking with Ming Zixi and his friends, freely engaging in idle chatter. He crossed his long legs while idly clicking a lighter, making occasional sounds.

"... Last year on this day at this gate, the woman's face matched the peach blossoms in red, where has that face gone The peach blossoms still laugh in the spring breeze..." The female singer who was performing had a low and sorrowful voice.

Luo An's smiling face suddenly vanished as if wiped away by an eraser, his handsome eyebrows furrowed together, and his thin lips tightly pursed, making his entire face cold and intimidating.

When Ming Zixi saw Luo An's sudden change in expression, he looked around but didn't see anyone annoying this troublemaker. Upon closer inspection, he noticed that something was wrong with the music. He quickly called out to those nearby, "Hurry up and tell them to change the song! What kind of tune is this It sounds like someone died!"

When Luo An heard the words "died," his face darkened further. Suddenly, he turned towards Ming Zixi with a burning gaze, "Don't hint at me here; tell me honestly, has something happened to Luoxi"

This abrupt shout startled everyone around him into silence. Shao Meizhuo couldn't help laughing mockingly, her sarcastic laughter standing out sharply. Luo An turned and gave her a sharp glance, his thick eyebrows twitching.

Everyone present knew why Luo An had been so upset lately; they understood the situation well but kept silent, waiting to see what would happen next.

Shao Meizhuo, with the experience from last time, didn't want to provoke this agitated lion again. This man was already close to losing his mind; it was better not to irritate him further. She turned away and continued chatting quietly with the man beside her.

Luo An watched Shao Meizhuo's smile and felt puzzled; there was a mocking, pitiful, and amusing element in that smile which he couldn't figure out.

He temporarily put Shao Meizhuo aside and turned to Ming Zixi again, "Tell me, has something happened to Luoxi You all know but won't tell me."The suite was eerily quiet. Lian stepped inside and saw Yan Luoxi's travel bag still on the sofa, which eased his mind somewhat. Looking around, he noticed that she was curled up asleep in a big chair...
