act, he thought of ways to make amends."Eh Eh!" Unprepared for this unexpected information, Yan Luoxi’s reaction was delayed. It took her a while to understand Lian's intentions. She stepped forward an...Chapter 66 Foster Bride
Luo An held the card with an eerie smile on his face. "Let me see what it says."
Yan Luoxi hadn't seen the content of the card before, so she didn't know what was written there. She tried to tip-toe and peek at it but Luo An towered over her by more than a head height, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t see even a glimpse.
Unable to make out anything on the card, all she could do was observe Luo An's expression. He had beautiful eyes, his smile faint and charming. This wicked guy really did look good, especially when he smiled like that; his eyes and lips were incredibly attractive.
"Do you want to know what it says" Luo An looked at her intently, his eyes shining brightly.
"I don't care what it says. This card has nothing to do with me, it wasn’t meant for me." Yan Luoxi lied, looking into his eyes earnestly as if trying to wash her hands clean of the matter.
"If it’s not related to you, then could the person mentioned on it be someone who shares your name and surname!" Luo An found this hilarious. He blinked his eyes, pretending to be clueless as he read out loud in a teasing manner: "Luoxi, Luoxi... Three days feels like an eternity without seeing you..."
Yan Luoxi’s face turned crimson the moment she heard it; she immediately reached for the card without thinking. However, Luo An was taller and had longer arms than her. Using his height advantage, he easily dodged her grasp, continuing to recite in a dramatic manner: "Luoxi... Luoxi..."
"Give it back! Give it back now!" Yan Luoxi was on the verge of tears; she stood on tiptoe and tugged at Luo An's arm. As they struggled over the card, her balance got completely off-kilter, and she ended up falling into Luo An’s embrace.
The slender and delicate figure suddenly fell into his arms, and the unexpected softness made Li An feel a flutter in his heart. Yan Luoxi's face flushed pink from her vigorous leap to snatch something, looking like a ripe watermelon peach that exuded sweet and intoxicating fragrance, tempting one to pinch it or even take a bite.
Li An felt he must be going mad to suddenly have such an inexplicable thought. He abruptly pushed away Yan Luoxi, who was in close proximity with him, his voice gruff: "Move away! Why are you jumping all over me"
Before Yan Luoxi could figure out what happened, she felt everything seemed to occur in a flash and Li An had fiercely pushed her back. She fell onto the ground, dumbfoundedly staring at Li An.
The moment his gaze inadvertently met with hers, he found it incredibly awkward. He put away his previous nonchalant attitude, frowned heavily, and roared at her: "Why are you snatching You feel guilty because you're stealing"
Yan Luoxi looked at Li An in fear; when this handsome brother with angelic looks got serious, his sharp and domineering eyes seemed to shoot ice pellets. She bit her lip but didn't dare speak.
Seeing she remained silent, Li An was convinced of her guilt and became even more furious: "So you've been thinking about such things every day while in school A young one like you should know better! Tomorrow I'll tell Mother that there's no need to send you to school anymore. I'll just have you sent directly to the matrimonial introduction center!"
"No, don't tell Auntie Xiaobei!" Yan Luoxi's voice quivered in fear. She was afraid of Li An but even more so of Gu Xiaobei and Li Haonan learning about this.
She looked at the stern, domineering, and unreasonable Li An before her, hoping to explain: "It truly has nothing to do with me; that boy wrote me a letter. I didn't read it either; originally, I was going to throw it away but forgot." As she spoke, she cautiously observed his expression, pleading softly: "Second Brother, I'm not lying to you, please don't tell Auntie Xiaobei about this..."
Watching Yan Luoxi's long eyelashes quiver like little brushes, making her look even more tender and fragile, Li An felt inexplicable irritation and anger surge within him: "That boy who doesn't know his limits, I'll break his legs tomorrow!"
Yan Luoxi knew how reckless he was; in his idiotic mind, breaking a person's leg and breaking a dog's leg were the same thing. She urgently pleaded with him out of shock: "Second Brother, forget it. I didn't even get a good look at what he looks like. Really, I didn't pay any attention to him."
Lì n glared coldly at Yan Luoxi until she felt her bones chill. He said in a cold voice: "Don’t let me see you meddling again or else I’ll peel your skin too!"
Yan Luoxi felt guilty and nodded obediently with her head hanging low.
Lì n's expression eased slightly as he slowly tore apart the paper card, habitually threatening: "I can keep today’s matter from my mother, but you have to listen to me from now on. Do whatever I ask."
With Lì n holding a trump card over her, she naturally dared not resist.
Lì n effortlessly obtained a free little slave and immediately acted with the high-handed authority of an owner.
Whenever there were just him and Yan Luoxi at home, he would become as paralyzed as someone suffering from infantile paralysis on the couch. Except for using the bathroom, he could not manage any other aspect of his life: "Yan Luoxi, get me a glass of water!"
"Yan Luoxi, peel an orange for me!"
"Yan Luoxi, read to me!"
"Yan Luoxi..."
Died!
At times, Yan Luoxi wished she were dead so she wouldn't have to endure Li An's endless servitude. Many times she wanted to rebel and slap the person lounging on the sofa like a big shot, but she didn’t dare to, only silently resisting him through words or actions.
Her defiance played right into Li An’s hands; he would come up with even more vicious insults and cruel methods to suppress her, then condescendingly soothe her wounds, saying, "Luoxi, don't be angry. You're already ugly enough as it is—when you get mad, you look even worse!" Finally, he’d laugh triumphantly.
After two rounds of this treatment, Yan Luoxi was utterly defeated; Li An excelled at such battles and always had everything under control. He was incredibly shrewd—whenever he wanted to win, he did. How could she possibly beat him
Yan Luoxi’s spirit sank, unwilling to make any more futile efforts. In front of Li An, she truly understood the value of silence; fighting with Li An made silence the safest option.
Liu An would enslave Yan Luoxi when no one else was around at home, and sometimes he’d even order her around in front of his close friends. Shao Junhe had witnessed this several times; seeing Yan Luoxi meekly serving Li An tea, he grew suspicious and whispered to Li An: "Li An, did your mother have a purpose when she took in this little girl"
"What kind of purpose" Li An knew Shao Junhe had more to say and let him continue.
"Your mom wanted you to marry her off as a child-bride, right!"e no hint of emotion. After sizing up Yan Luoxi for a while, he suddenly asked in a leisurely manner: "Do you still remember the promise I made three years ago"She would never forget such an unequal a...
